How you can Help your Child in Room 3

There is so much for students to learn in their first years of school.  Some things that you can do to assist your child are...

Believe they can
What we as teachers and parents believe about your child, you child will also believe.  This works for negative and positive beliefs.
Be encouraging
Focus on what they can do and from a place of success they will overcome their challenges with your support.
Talk about their learning progress against their progress rather than other students
Who they are is valuable, unique and different from their friends and siblings.
Make learning fun
If they are laughing they are halfway there.
Listen reflectively
Children are more likely to meet challenges and grow in their self belief if they know the adults around them understand and support them.
See challenges as opportunities
Challenges although difficult will grow them, which part of the challenge can your child take on and which parts do they need you to support them with?
Model
Be a model of who you would like your child to be at school.  If you find maths difficult for example, show them a model of someone who persists through their difficulties methodically.
