BOOK WEEK 2009
It was great to see so many people at our Book Fair. Our School Library benefits with a % of the total sales. We look forward to putting the money to good use.
Tuesday morning Year 3 & 4 were visited by Simon Grant, the author of ‘Peter and the Pig” and the ‘Stella Steller’ series. Simon is an ex CBS student and the children enjoyed listening to him talk about his childhood and inspirations for being a writer.
Year 5 & 6 had a talk by author Melinda Szymanik. Melinda’s book ‘The Were-Nana’ was the recipient of the Children’s Choice Award at the recent NZ Post Book Awards. They also enjoyed learning about motivation and tips on being a writer.
Years 0-2 had a very special visitor who accompanied Mr Millward to their classrooms. ‘Clifford’ enjoyed his time at CBS and having fun with the children.
Later in the day ‘Winnie the Friendly Witch’ paid us a visit – how lucky we were to see her again.
Thursday morning all the Teams enjoyed parading around in the fabulous ‘Favourite Book Character’ costumes. Mrs McLean was so impressed and had a very hard time choosing the winners. Well done to all who participated.
