On Friday November 19 our kapa haka group represented our school in Onepoto School’s 20th Cultural Festival. This is a huge cultural extravaganza with over 40 primary/intermediate schools from around the North Shore taking part. As well as Kapa Haka performances there were items from Pacific Island drummers, Korean and Chinese dance groups and a very entertaining number from a Bollywood group! With two stages operating (indoor/outdoor) it made for a very stimulating atmosphere.

Our group performed in the afternoon to a packed audience. We did a bracket of 5 songs including Poi and sticks and were very well received and applauded by everyone there. Congratulations on an awesome performance CBS kapa haka! A big thank you to all the parents who turned up to support us, in particular, Mrs Burns and Mrs Evans who came with us on the bus and Mrs Kirk who saved the day with her amazing dash back to school to retrieve our pois!! Special certificates will be presented to students at our next full school assembly.

Thank you to Jenny Watt and Sarah Reid who lead the school’s kapa haka group with such dedication and skill.
